Up early and ride my bike around the mall parking lot and down the street. Doen to the gig around 11am. Load in and set-up, then get informed the show is cancelled, due to the singer's voice. We are going to line check and do some other stuff for the monitor crew, then load out at 6pm. Bus can't leave till 3am, due to the lack of hotel rooms in our next town of Lexington, KY. Ahh, the glamorous life...
Today we're at the Holiday Inn next to University Mall in my hometown of Pensacola, FL. To say this place is a dive is an understatement. It's one of those two story motel where all the rooms face the parking lot. It's run down, but not as run down as the mall next door which was built at least 30 years ago, and the only decent stores left are the Sears and JC Penney anchors on each end.
It is a beautiful day though, walk down and get some steamed shrimp from a place on the way to the Books-A-Million to look at magazines. Hang out on the bus later watching a movie.
Flew out yesterday to Ft. Lauderdale, after spending three glorious days at home. Really hated to leave, especially since it was near 80 degrees today in Raleigh. We're playing at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino here, in a small (less than 4000 people) arena. Catering is the same for both lunch and dinner, both suck. It's our first show with our new opening act, who are old friends and always a good time. Show is good and load out is slow... We're not leaving till 3am, as our rooms in Pensacola won't be ready till the afternoon tomorrow.
